Get A better Food Hygiene Rating

The Food Standards Agency’s, Food Hygiene Rating Scheme ‘FHRS’ provides consumers with information about food safety at your business.  Food safety inspectors from the Council inspect your business and give you a rating between  0 (UNSATISFACTORY)   and   5 (VERY GOOD)  based on how well you meet food safety requirements.

Consumers can freely search online for your rating and see the sticker in your window and decide if they want to buy your food!

This applies to: Restaurants, hotels, care homes, cafes, coffee shops, pubs, takeaways, supermarkets, ice cream vans, and other places where you can visit and eat food.

The Problems:

  • If you’re a new businesses and unaware of the scheme
  • If you have been inspected and did not know what was required: You get a poor rating!
  • If you have been waiting too long to be re rated even though you’ve improved
  • Since 2016, If you get a poor score, the Council can now charge anything around £200 to revisit you
